About Clarke Energy
Clarke Energy is present in the UK, Ireland, France, Nigeria, India, Australia and New Zealand with new offices due to open in 2008 in China and Tunisia. This wide geographical spread provides a tremendous variety of interesting and challenging opportunities.
Power generation projects are in all sorts of applications; natural gas, landfill gas, biogas from sewage works, waste methane from working mines, coal seam methane extracted from unmined virgin coal and so called “syngas” produced by the gasification of biomass and waste. Some projects are straight base load generation, others combined heat and power or trigeneration, some are in island mode applications often in parallel to existing diesel engines. Installations are from 330kW to 33MW. Sometimes we supply a complete building, in other cases we shoehorn engines into basements. In most cases we design and perform turnkey installations and commit to long-term maintenance contracts guaranteeing availability. All with the superb, purpose designed, high efficiency, clean burning Jenbacher gas engine.
Energy crop digestion projects are with HAASE wet anaerobic digestion plant producing methane from biomass (eg grain) for generation of renewable electricity with Jenbacher gas engines. Energy crops are the focus of increasing attention all round the world and there will undoubtedly be massive opportunities for us in this area. Some schemes also use animal slurry or waste food.
The waste treatment projects are with HAASE mechanical biological treatment (MBT) plant utilising mechanical separation and wet anaerobic digestion for the treatment of black bag, unsorted municipal waste. The state of the art, clean and odour free HAASE plant develops its own power with Jenbacher gas engines running on the methane produced in the anaerobic digestion process. Normally there is even a surplus of green energy available for export! Legislation to divert biodegradable waste from landfill and to increase level of recycling are the drivers for these plants which are up to 150,000 tonnes per annum in size.
Reverse osmosis (RO) treatment plant from HAASE is supplied for the treatment of the leachate (contaminated water) that gathers in landfill sites. This is the flexible, modern way to treat leachate – the compact plant is housed in a 40 ft ISO container. The effluent produced is the cleanest of all known wastewater treatment processes.
Clarke Energy provides full turnkey solutions; designing and building complete plant installations; undertaking civil, mechanical and electrical site work, project management and commissioning.
Parts and Service backup is provided for the life of a plant, including operating and maintenance contracts when required guaranteeing performance.
